Theogony - The birth of Gods. A poem by the ancient Hesoid. All pieces composed and performed by Brandon Rizzo. New music will be added as it is recorded.

Snowfall - Solo Bb Trumpet composition and improvisation using the Bb concert whole-tone scale.

Bird Call - Transcribed from a bird call outside my apartment in Rogers Park, Chicago. Spring 2009.

Second Line - by Duke Ellington. I kept hearing a melody in my head, I knew it was Ellington, but I didn't know the name of the piece. A few weeks later I went to see the Chicago Jazz Ensemble, and they ended up playing it - turns out it was Second Line, part of the New Orleans Suite. So I transcribed it and used it as a theme for improvisation.

Tarkus (Distortion) - A punk tune, composed for and recorded on Bb trumpet, C trumpet and flugelhorn.

Vocari Neptuni - Roughly "The Call of Neptune". This composition conists of modular melodic cells, resulting in a slightly different composition for each performance.

Adrastrea - A minor Greek deity. An Improvisation on C Trumpet.

An Improvisation on a theme from De La Soul - on flugelhorn.

Re - An improvisation on muted trumpet over a ?uestlove drum sample.

Pheos - Noumena - Chasm - Cronus

Pheos is a mini-suite in 3 movements. The material for these pieces was determined by rolling a twelve sided die, and assinging each number to a note on the chromatic scale. The die was rolled 4 times and the corresponding 4 pitches, and only those 4 pitches, were used for improvisiation. Each piece uses a different pitch set.

Erebus - Flugelhorn improvisation, with gradual overarching distortion/reverb.

Tarkus (no distortion) - The same piece, with the natural sound of the instrument.
